The Organizational Behavior And Structuring On Hickling...

Introduction Hickling Associates Ltd. is an organization that exports goods to various countries around the world especially European countries. This analysis is based on the organizational behavior and structuring on Hickling Associates Ltd. Tony Azzara who was an experienced sales manager at a renowned company called Pisces Ltd lost his job in that organization due to financial troubles in the company and economic depression in the fresh and frozen seafood market in Europe . He got hired on as a sales manager at Hickling Associates ltd and his main job responsibility was to create more sales, build and establish more relationships in the European countries. He continued to work very hard and manager to double the number of seafood exports and establish new customer contacts all over the world. Desp ite of doing all that at the end of the year Mr. Hickling did not give Tony the bonus he was promised as he mentioned bonuses are based on the company’s overall performance not individual. Unlike any other company Mr. Hickling did not even give Tony a performance feedback and being the authoritative figure he is, he told Tony to work harder the following year to get a better remuneration, This in turn unmotivated Tony and decreased his morale which led him to resign and look for another job as there was lack of advancement in Hickling Ltd. b) Lack of Communication Hickling Ltd. had a very unusual office layout as no one has offices but just desk and chairs. This is known as an open office layout. None of the employees had their personal working space as everyone was close to each other. Mr. Hickling’s leadership style is autocratic as a result he wanted to oversee all their actions. There has been many situations where he’s very vague about sharing information with his employees, a prime example being when Tony arrived at Hickling Ltd. on his first day. Even his secretary was not communicated that Hickling Ltd. hired a new sales manager. Mr.
